As part of its Distinguished Lecture Series in Theology and the Arts, Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts (DITA)  will host Awet Andemicael for an interactive lecture and performance with Dr. Jeremy Begbie, Thomas A. Langford Research Professor of Theology at Duke Divinity School. The performance, "Becoming Instruments of God," will be open to the public.

Andemicael works primarily at the intersection of music and theology, with a strong emphasis on social transformation. As a concert soprano, she has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Andemicael holds degrees from Harvard University, University of California at Irvine, Yale University (Divinity School, Institute of Sacred Music certificate, and Graduate School), and the University of Notre Dame. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Yale University.
