In-person General Audience

A memorial service honoring Dr. William C. Turner Jr. will take place in Duke University Chapel on Thursday, August 6 from 5-7 p.m. 

Additionally, there will be a lie-in-state on Friday, August 7 from 2-3 p.m. at Duke University Chapel. 

William Clair Turner Jr., James T. and Alice Mead Cleland Professor Emeritus of the Practice of Preaching at Duke Divinity School, died on July 26 at the age of 78. Turner was a pastor, preacher, and educator whose decades of service shaped Duke Divinity School, strengthened ties between Duke University and the Durham community, expanded the study and witness of the Black church, and advanced campus civil rights.

Parking at the Bryan Center Parking Garage will be open from 4-8 p.m. and free to the public. Free ADA parking will also be available in the Bryan Center Surface Lot from 3:30-7 p.m.
