Benjamin King is the academic dean and Duncalf-Villavoso Professor of Church History, having joined Seminary of the Southwest in 2023. His current areas of research are the Oxford Movement, particularly the theology of John Henry Newman, the development of the Anglican Communion, and the Episcopal Church’s historic entanglement with slavery. He teaches the core courses in Church History as well as electives in Anglican theology and history.

He is the author of two books. The first, Newman and the Alexandrian Fathers, won a Templeton Award for Theological Promise. The second is a groundbreaking work titled The Oxford Movement and the People of God: Enslavement, Education, and Empire. Dr. King has been an Episcopal priest since 2000 and, as well as being a professor, has served in parish and campus ministry.

Rev. King was one of twenty international scholars invited by the Vatican to contribute to the positio that led to Newman’s designation as Doctor of the Church in July of 2025.

Reinhard Huetter is visiting professor of Catholic theology at Duke Divinity School. Professor Huetter’s teaching and research focus on fundamental theological questions, such as the relationship between faith and reason, nature and grace, revelation and faith, theology and philosophy, dogma and history, questions of theological anthropology, and the theology and epistemology of faith. He has an abiding interest in the thought of Thomas Aquinas and has, in more recent years, developed an intense interest in the thought of John Henry Newman. His most recent book is John Henry Newman on Truth and Its Counterfeits: A Guide for Our Times (CUA Press, 2020).
