Duke Divinity School will hold its 92nd Opening Convocation Service, the first worship service of the 2018-19 academic year for students, faculty, and staff. Highlighted by an academic procession of faculty and staff, the service will be held in Duke Chapel.
The Rev. Dr. L. Gregory Jones, the newly appointed dean of the Divinity School who previously served as dean from 1997-2010, will be preaching. The convocation service also includes a blessing of new faculty and staff, and a welcoming to the entering class of students. All Divinity faculty and staff are invited to process but must provide their own regalia (robes and hoods, but not tams). Those planning to process or to reserve seating are asked to contact the Office of the Chaplain by Aug. 26.
