Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet will perform at a Duke Divinity School worship service in Goodson Chapel, followed by a lunchtime conversation on the intersection between dance and theology. The event is sponsored by Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts; the Theology, Medicine and Culture Initiative; and the Center for Reconciliation.

A non-profit ministry, Ekklesia's goal is to “love all and serve all” as the church embodied through the visible form of dance. Ekklesia holds a diverse repertory spanning a full spectrum of emotion, physicality, and vocabulary that address major issues the world is facing today such as poverty, inequality, and human suffering.

Ekklesia’s performers, choreographers, and collaborators are committed to presenting innovative work that speaks to every audience member in an effort to heal the world, as well as to providing education and accessibility in the art of dance to the underserved in the  community. Ekklesia attempts to foster an environment for audiences and artists where genuine discussion of life and faith can flourish.
