Throughout February, the Office of Black Church Studies at Duke Divinity School will feature the 2022 Sankofa Black Alumni Preaching Series to celebrate the distinct contributions of the school's alumni of African descent. Alumni will preach during four Tuesday worship services online from Goodson Chapel at 11:45 a.m.

The preachers for this year's series are: the Rev. Dr. William L. Lee, M.Div. '78, emeriti member of the Board of Visitors, Duke Divinity School and clergy facilitator for Duke Divinity Schools Wind in Our Sails cohort; the Rev. Donna Banks, M.Div. '06; the Rev. Lisa Yebuah, M.Div. '04, lead pastor of the Southeast Raleigh Table, a worshipping community in Raleigh, N.C.; and The Right Reverend Dr. Seth O. Lartey, MRE. '90, chairperson of Zion’s Benefit Services and first vice-president of Church Growth and Development in the A.M.E. Zion Church.

The Sankofa Black Alumni Preaching Series was established in 2014 during Black History Month. The word Sankofa derives from the Akan language of Ghana and translates as "reach back and get it."
