The Hispanic House of Studies at Duke Divinity School will hold a webinar on "Trauma Informed Pastoral Care: A Pastoral Response" featuring local pastors tackling questions such as how should knowledge of trauma help us care for our congregations and in what ways can we provide the best care? This webinar continues a conversation from a July 24 webinar on defining trauma presented by Alvely Alcántara, a therapist and licensed clinical social worker specializing in mental health in North Carolina.
In this webinar, Alcántara will be joined by the Rev. Alma Tinoco-Ruiz, director of the Hispanic House of Studies and a lecturer in homiletics and evangelism at Duke Divinity; the Rev. Edgar Vergara, pastor of iglesia La Semilla; and the Rev. Luz Ponce, pastor of Unidos por Cristo. It is a part of a webinar series being sponsored by the Hispanic House titled 2020 Sumérgete Webinar Series on a variety of topics for laity, pastors, and other interested persons on theological topics related to the Latinx community.
The next webinar in the series will be "Bridging the Divide between the Academy and the Church: A Conversation with the Latinx Faculty at Duke Divinity School" on Sept. 28, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Registration is required for all webinars.
