The Duke Youth Academy for Christian Formation (DYA) has announced its expansion to a year-long program that combines a week of summer residency at Duke University with a year of ongoing engagement and practice.

Alaina Kleinbeck previously served as assistant director of youth ministry initiatives at Duke Divinity School.

Previously, she served as assistant director of youth ministry initiatives at Duke Divinity School. She has also served as a mentor on the DYA staff in 2011 and as a ministry coordinator in 2012.

Duke Youth Academy Residency

Duke Divinity School will host high school students on campus June 22-28, 2014 for the Duke Youth Academy. Through this week-long residency at Duke University, the program fosters an intentional Christian community that it cultivates over the next year. With Divinity School faculty and mentors, participants continue to study theology and Christian practice while exploring their faith in their own communities through gestures of hospitality, creative arts, servant ministry, justice, reconciliation, and reflection.

The cost is $25 to apply. Applications will be accepted through March 1, 2014 from high school students across the country. Additional program costs apply, if accepted to the program.

Duke Divinity School will host the Duke Youth Academy, a two-week intensive encounter with Christian life for rising high school juniors and seniors from across the nation and from any denominational tradition. Participants will learn, serve, worship, and fellowship in intentional Christian community with Divinity School faculty on the Duke University campus.

The event will offer participants an opportunity to think through the work and theology of youth ministry, network with local colleagues, and learn more about what Duke Youth Ministry Initiatives can offer to their ministry to youth.
