Rhonda ParkerRev. Rhonda Parker
Director of Field Education

The Reverend Rhonda Parker is Director of Field Education at Duke Divinity School. She brings significant experience in church and non-profit ministry leadership, most recently with NC United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries. She has taught and preached throughout the state, and has designed and taught creation care workshops focusing on environmental stewardship and practices of faith at both regional and national events. She enjoys writing, being outdoors, and mentoring persons discerning a call to ministry.

An ordained elder in the North Carolina (NC) Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church, Rhonda and her husband, Allen, met as undergraduates at Duke in 1988 and are the parents of 5 children: Ben, Emily, Greg, Paige and Payton.

 

Rev. Dr. Matthew Floding
Director of Ministerial Formation and Field Education

The Reverend Matthew Floding is Director of Ministerial Formation and Field Education. He has served as pastor in Illinois, college chaplain in Iowa and director of formation for ministry at a seminary of the Reformed Church in America in Michigan. Matt also volunters with a non-profit, Friendship House Partners USA, which works with persons with intellectual disabilities and their families to secure safe, affordable and community-oriented housing in partnership with divinity schools and seminaries. He is passionate about encouraging leadership development for ministry and vocational discernment.

Matthew is an ordained minister of Word and sacrament in the Reformed Church in America. He and his wife Marcia are parents to Geoffrey, Kathryn, and Greta.

Susan Pendleton JonesRev. Susan Pendleton Jones
Associate Dean, United Methodist Initiatives and Ministerial Formation

The Reverend Susan Pendleton Jones is Associate Dean of United Methodist Initiatives and Ministerial Formation. Prior to her current position, she served as Director of Field Education at Duke Divinity School. Her teaching responsibilities at Duke have included courses on leadership, forgiveness and reconciliation, and the pastor's vocation, team-taught with her husband, L. Gregory Jones, Professor of Theology and Vice President and Vice Provost for Global Strategy and Programs, Duke University. Additionally, she was the project coordinator for the Divinity School’s 2005 building addition, which includes Goodson Chapel and the Westbrook Building.

An ordained elder in the Western North Carolina (WNC) Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Susan has served pastorates in North Carolina and Maryland and as former UM Campus Minister at Duke. Susan and Greg are the parents of Nathan, Benjamin, and Sarah.

 

Cheryl ParkerCheryl Parker
Field Education Staff Assistant

Cheryl Parker is a staff assistant in the Office of Field Education at Duke Divinity School. She is a native North Carolinian. She is an active member at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Hurdle Mills and resides in Mebane with her husband, Barry, and their two daughters, Faith and Hope.

Kristi SpencerKristi Spencer
Field Education Staff Assistant

Kristi Spencer is a staff assistant in the Office of Field Education at Duke Divinity School. She is a native North Carolinian and graduated from UNC-Asheville with a B.A. in mass communication. Her husband, Ken Spencer, is a Provisional Elder in the WNC Annual Conference.
