The Divinity Refectory will host a free event, “Celebrate the Harvest,” to provide an opportunity for the Duke and Divinity School communities to sample its menu featuring food from local farms and meet its food suppliers.
The fall celebration will be held Tues., Oct. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Divinity Refectory in the Westbrook Building of the Divinity School. The popular eatery re-opened in late July under new management.
“We want to give the Duke community an opportunity to meet some of the local farmers and vendors that supply the Divinity Refectory the food that CORE Catering prepares daily, and we also want everyone to meet the staff that serves you,” said Pat Eder, owner of CORE Catering, which manages the eatery.
No registration is required to attend the event. Faculty, staff, and students may sign up in the Divinity Refectory to be eligible for door prizes including gift certificates redeemable for meals in the eatery and baskets of food from local providers.
Local food suppliers that will have representatives at the event include Ashley Farm and Southern Foods, both in Greensboro; The Bread Shop of Pittsboro; Eastern Carolina Organics; Smith Angus Farm in Snow Camp; and SYSCO Foods in Selma.
The event also will feature David Young, a New York artist and former Duke University student, whose artwork currently appears on the walls of the eatery. The Divinity Refectory rotates displays of art related to Duke or created by members of the Duke community.
