Divinity School Dean Richard B. Hays has announced that Beth Sheppard will become the new director of the Divinity School Library and associate professor of the practice of theological bibliography. She will replace Roger Loyd, who is retiring on June 30.
Beth Sheppard currently directs the United Library at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., where she also teaches introductory courses in Greek and New Testament. She holds a library science degree from Emporia State University and a Ph.D. in biblical studies from the University of Sheffield. She conducts research in both fields and has had numerous articles and conference presentations in both theological librarianship and biblical studies. Her book, The Craft of History and the Study of the New Testament, will be available from Scholars Press in November 2012.
