Rev. Jeremy Troxler, director of the Thriving Rural Communities initiative, will present "An Audience of One: The Courageous Humility of Rural Ministry," as part of the monthly Rural Ministry Colloquia Series.
Rural ministers often live and work in obscurity. Preaching before the same 50 people week after week, their daily deeds of discipleship and devotion are enacted far from the glare of the news media, and their accomplishments sometimes are overlooked by denominational officials.
To engage in such ministry for the glory of God requires profound self-emptying and the cultivation of a courageous humility – and yet such humility can become a source of deep freedom and joy. Join us as we talk about what it means to serve in faithful rural ministry before an audience of one.
This session will be from 12:25-1:20 p.m. on Nov. 12 in 059 Langford, Duke Divinity School. All are invited to attend. Lunch will be provided; no RSVP necessary. For details, contact Rev. Jeremy Troxler .
