Dr. Swee Hong Lim will present the talk “Re-Tuning Charles Wesley” at 12:20 p.m. on March 19 in the Divinity School’s Alumni Memorial Common Room. The talk is open to the public.
Dr. Lim teaches at Trinity Theological College in Singapore. His areas of expertise include worship, liturgy, and music, and he also serves as the director for field education at Trinity.
In addition Dr. Lim chairs the Worship and Liturgy Committee of the World Methodist Council and serves with the Board on Worship and Music of the Trinity Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Singapore. He holds degrees from the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music, Manila; Southern Methodist University, Texas; and Drew University, New Jersey.
Aside from his work in academia, Dr. Lim composes and sets Wesleyan texts to new tunes with Asian flavor. His works can be found in several publications, including the Global Praise collection published by GBGMusik, the Sound the Bamboo: the Asian Hymnal, and the Hymns for United Worship of the World Federation of Chinese Methodist Churches.
