Attendants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. For those traveling from abroad, the following suggestions on ground transportation may be helpful.
Ground Transportation to Oxford
By Rail
From London airports there are direct rail links to London
Heathrow – to Paddington Station where you can take another train direct to Oxford.
Gatwick – to Victoria Station, from where you need to travel to Paddington Station for Oxford.
Connections to the London Underground system are also available.
By Coach
In the UK a “coach” is a bus designed for longer journeys. The term “bus” refers to local public transport. The Oxford Bus Company runs express coaches from both airports. For detailed schedules and fare information, see http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk/airline1.html
From Gatwick Airport
Catch the coach outside the Arrivals Concourse (Bay 8, South Terminal; Stop 4, North Terminal). The journey takes just over 2 hours. The fare is approximately £21 one way (ask for single), or £28 for a “period return.” We recommend purchasing the “period return,” but be sure to save your receipt as that is your return ticket.

From Heathrow Airport
Catch the coach outside the Arrivals Concourse (Bay 15) if arriving at Terminal 4. If you come into Terminals 1, 2 or 3 you will need to take the underground walkway (signposted) to the Central Bus Station where the bus departs from Bay 14A. Journey time is about an hour and a half and the fare is approximately £17 one way (ask for single), or £20 for a “period return.” We recommend purchasing the “period return,” but be sure to save your receipt as that is your return ticket.

From London City
If you are coming into London, there are frequent coach connections to Oxford from Victoria Rail. A one-way ticket is about £11; a return (roundtrip) £16.
The “Oxford Tube” (not to be confused with the “tube” London underground system) departs from just alongside Victoria Rail Station. For detailed schedules and prices, see http://www.oxfordtube.com/
The “Oxford Express” departs from Victoria Coach Station (just down the road from Victoria Rail Station – Bay 10) http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk/espress1.shtml
All coaches to Oxford have intermediate stops and terminate at the coach station in town (Gloucester Green). Coaches can sometimes stop in St. Aldates (immediately outside Christ Church) and it is worth asking the drive if he/she will do that.
Getting to Christ Church in Oxford
Christ Church is in the Town Centre and not that far from either the Gloucester Green bus/coach station or the railway station.
All taxis are metered and the cost could vary from £3 to £5 depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.
The bus from the Gloucester Green coach station is the 300 park and ride bus. There should be a bus every 6 minutes. You will need to go out of the station onto George Street and cross over the road. The bus stop is outside Yates Wine Lodge.
The bus from the railway station is the X3. There should be one every 15 minutes.
Ask for a single to Christ Church; both buses cost approx. 50 pence. The driver will let you know when you get there if you ask.
