Serving and Learning Together (SALT) is a unique year-long cross-cultural immersion experience for Christian young adults from the United States and Canada, sponsored by Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). Service assignments run from August Orientation to July Re-Entry in the following year and include, but are not limited to: teaching a variety of subjects including language, science, math and/or computers; conducting a youth orchestra & choir; working with deaf-blind children; sustainable agriculture projects, peace building and human rights, health and nutrition, social work, type-editing, handicraft marketing, and more. Over 30 country locations throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
Job Qualifications: Participants must be single, 18 to 30 years old, U.S. or Canadian citizens, actively participating in the life of a Christian church, and committed to non-violent peacemaking. Participants are expected to fund-raise a defined minimum contribution. Benefits while on assignment include student loan assistance and full medical coverage.
Compensation Type: Monthly
Compensation Amount: All living& travel expenses (except passport, visa, and vaccinations) are covered; full medical coverage; student loan repayment assistance; plus a monthly stipend.
Approximate Hours Per Week: 30-40 hr work week + involvement in daily life of community & MCC team in-country.
Job Duration: 11 months (August to July)
