Wakefield UMC in North Raleigh is seeking a part-time Director of Youth Ministry. The primary responsibility will be for the Christian formation of students 6th-12th grade. The candidate must have an authentic relationship with Jesus and be able to help youth develop the same. The ideal candidate must communicate effectively and demonstrate strong leadership, administrative, and organizational skills. He or she must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and able to get things done. He or she must be able to plan and execute events like kickoffs, retreats, work days, and mission trips. He or she must possess excellent interpersonal skills, an aptitude for building meaningful relationships with youth and their parents, and be able to provide pastoral care. He or she will engage with the congregation and the community leading the youth in outreach and missions. The ability to build teams, work with teams, and cultivate leaders (youth and adult) is essential. Individual must be able to preach and teach youth effectively, plan and lead worship experiences, and address relevant issues to youth effectively. The ideal candidate will lead in a way that is engaging, inviting, fun, energetic, relevant, meaningful, and strengthens the faith of our youth. Ideal candidate will have youth ministry leadership experience with demonstrated success, a college education, and an understanding and commitment to United Methodist theology, doctrine, and polity.
