The Rural Church as a Catalyst for Community Transformation

Thriving Rural Communities is partnering with the North Carolina Conference's Academy for Leadership Excellence and the Greenville District to present an evening of learning at Holly Spring United Methodist Church in Martin County. The event is to inspire, challenge, and equip clergy and laity to foster transformation in their rural communities.

Speakers will include:

  • Rev. Jeremy Troxler, director of the Thriving Rural Communities initiative at Duke Divinity School
  • Rev. Dr. Alan Rice, executive director of Rural Faith Development Community Developement Corporation and pastor of the biker-church Crossfire UMC in North Wilkesboro, N.C.
  • Rev. Laura Early of All God’s Children UMC and the Place of Possibilities in Aulander, N.C.

The event is open to everyone in the North Carolina Conference interested in and passionate about rural church ministry. A meal is included.
