Director of Children's Ministry
Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church
The Director of Children’s Ministry will foster the Christian formation of the children of TAPC by overseeing and setting the tone for a joyful, faithful ministry, equipping lay leaders for service, supporting parents in their discipleship efforts at home, and propelling the engagement of children in the life of the church. Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church is a congregation of about five hundred members in Durham, North Carolina, with an average worship attendance of 200 spread across two services. TAPC seeks to be a community of faith that is a catalyst for the Spirit turning the hearts of the people of Durham toward one another and God. We seek to ‘be the church’ through worship and ministries that connect and deepen, fostering transformation by the renewing of minds in Christ Jesus. Children are essential parts of this calling; a reality that we bear witness to every time a child is baptized. Based on prayer, conversation, and discernment, the church is seeking a director who is energetic, listens well, and embodies an active, deep faith. He or she will be leading a ministry that is focusing more and more on providing faith-formation opportunities for families. Lay leaders are interested in thinking creatively about this ministry and desire a director who works well with others. An aptitude for making connections between the children’s ministry and other areas of the church’s life is essential. Many people find in this congregation a people who give their heart away easily, embracing newcomers warmly and happily receiving their gifts. We believe the next Director of Children’s Ministry will find a loving, supportive congregation eager to work and grow with them.
