University Baptist Church (UBC) in Hattiesburg, MS, and partnered with CBF and the Alliance of Baptists is seeking a Senior Pastor to serve our congregation and lead our ministries. We desire a dynamic and energetic pastor who possesses strong preaching skills, has five or more years of ministry experience, and holds a masters or doctoral degree from an accredited seminary or divinity school. We are an open communion church; everyone is welcome at the Lord’s Table. Working with the Center for Healthy Churches, UBC completed a visioning process in 2016 and discerned our mission to sustain an inclusive, inquisitive, community-minded, and loving congregation. UBC is an open and affirming congregation that supports both women and men to ministry positions. Entering the implementation phase of our visioning process, UBC is working to align our ministries with our environment. We have been blessed by members who have made the church’s property financially secure. As an engaged but aging congregation, we seek a Senior Pastor willing to actively attract more young adults and families from our community to participate in our fellowship. We are equally dedicated to supporting our long-standing members as well and prefer a candidate who appreciates the value of multi-generational relationships. In addition, the Senior Pastor will serve as the leader of the church’s pastoral ministries and work with deacons and the congregation to offer pastoral care to members and others in our community to encourage spiritual growth. Many of our members participate each Sunday in leading worship, and the Senior Pastor will facilitate lay leadership. Similarly, the Senior Pastor will work closely with standing committees and church staff. Compensation in the form of salary and benefits will be dependent on qualifications and experience and range from $65,000 to $75,000. Please submit your cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will begin reviewing submissions on February 1, 2018.
