Duke Divinity School Dean Elaine Heath has announced the appointment of Sujin Pak, assistant professor of the history of Christianity, to vice dean of academic affairs, effective July 1, 2018.

In her new senior administrative role, Pak will oversee the school’s academic programs and collaborate with key administrators to help ensure that the Divinity School’s curriculum, spiritual formation programs, and student life together support the formation of students to work in and with Christian communities. In addition, she’ll work on strengthening relationships with the United Methodist Church and wider Wesleyan traditions and engaging external funders. Pak, whose scholarship focuses on sixteenth-century Protestant Christianity, has previously served as associate dean of academic programs, and she is an active lay member of the United Methodist Church.

“Dr. Pak brings administrative experience, vision, and collaborative energy to her new role as vice dean of academic affairs,” said Heath. “Her commitment to fostering equity for minority members of our community will help the Divinity School as we become increasingly diverse. Dr. Pak is an outstanding citizen of the Divinity School and the University, who will contribute to our school's flourishing for many years to come.”
