Deadline Extended for M.A.C.P.
The application deadline for 2013 enrollment in the Master of Arts in Christian Practice (M.A.C.P.) has been extended from March 15 to March 29, 2013.
As an expansion of the previous year’s youth ministry cohort, Duke Divinity School has launched a “Serving Congregations” cohort for the M.A.C.P. program. The cohort is aimed at students who serve congregations in traditional and non-traditional roles including:
- youth and children’s ministers
- pastoral caregivers
- mission and outreach directors
- church business administrators
Congregations frequently call upon these gifted lay leaders to serve on staff. The M.A.C.P. degree offers students the opportunity to reflect theologically upon practices of lay professional ministry or other Christian service, enriching their service in the church and the world.
The degree is primarily for those seeking to enhance lay vocations while remaining in a full-time ministry context or other professional position, and is based on short, residential intensive seminars with web-based distance learning.
The M.A.C.P. is open to students of all denominations. United Methodist students may use the degree to meet the course requirements for Certification studies (e.g., Children’s or youth ministry) and the majority of the Basic Graduate Theological Studies requirements for ordination as deacons.
