Video of the Oct. 11 event, "Johnny Cash in the Holy Land: Christian Zionism and American Popular Culture," is now available below and on YouTube.

At the event in Goodson Chapel, Duke University religion professor Shalom Goldman examined the late singer Johnny Cash as a symbol for "American popular culture enthusiasm for Israel."

Cash, who was baptized in the Jordan River, traveled with his wife, June Carter Cash, to Israel five times.

Folk singer Lisa Deaton and Duke faculty members, including Divinity School Dean Richard Hays, and professors Joel Marcus and Kate Bowler, performed music related to Goldman's talk.

Goldman's presentation was sponsored by the Duke Center for Jewish Studies and Duke Divinity School.
