Registration Opens for Reconcilers Weekend
Registration is now open for the sixth annual Reconcilers Weekend September 21-22, 2012, sponsored by the Duke Center for Reconciliation, featuring Dr. Norman Wirzba, Dr. Norm Christensen, and Fred Bahnson.
At this weekend conference, Making Peace with the Land: Embracing God’s Call to Reconcile with Creation, co-hosted by the Center for Environmental Leadership, participants will have the opportunity to explore why reconciliation with creation is an essential part of God’s work of redemption, the connections between care of the land and just relationships among people, and practices for faith communities seeking a reconciled relationship with creation. Congregational leaders, pastors, seminarians, and all who love the church are invited to participate.
Speakers will include Norman Wirzba, Research Professor of Theology, Ecology and Rural Life at Duke Divinity School; Norm Christensen, Research Professor and founding Dean of the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment; and Fred Bahnson, director of the Food and Faith Initiative at Wake Forest School of Divinity. The conference will include lectures, discussion, stories from faith communities, and a group dinner.
A discounted rate is available for registration before September 14, and scholarship applications are being accepted for participants who have financial need and are actively involved in ministry.
