Bretherton Appointed to Faculty

Divinity School Dean Richard B. Hays has announced the appointment of Luke Bretherton as associate professor of theological ethics, effective July 2012.

Luke Bretherton has degrees from Cambridge University and King's College London. Prior to his appointment at Duke, he was Reader in Theology & Politics and Convener of the Faith & Public Policy Forum in the School of Social Science and Public Policy at King's College London. Bretherton has also worked with a variety of faith-based NGOs and churches around the world.  

His current area of research focuses on the intersections between Christianity, grassroots democracy, responses to poverty, and patterns of interfaith relations. The particular focus of this work is a study of broad-based community organizing, which will be published in a forthcoming book with Cambridge University Press.
