Duke Divinity School will celebrate its 86th Baccalaureate service May 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Duke Chapel. The preacher will be Sam Wells, dean of Duke Chapel and research professor of Christian ethics at the Divinity School.

Wells was selected by Divinity School Dean Richard B. Hays to preach after graduating students made nominations. His sermon, “But Even if Not,” will be based on the Old Testament text from Daniel 3. He will be returning to England early this summer after being at Duke since 2005 to become vicar of the historic St. Martin-in-the-Fields church in London.

This 90-minute service of worship includes the traditional ritual of hooding for degree recipients. The free event is open to the public.

The Baccalaureate service will be webcast live on the Duke Chapel webcast page and on Duke's Ustream channel.

Duke Divinity graduating students should meet before the service in Goodson Chapel at 5:30 p.m.
