School Hosts Rev. Otis Moss III

Rev. MossThe Office of Black Church Studies at the Divinity School will host the Rev. Otis Moss III, senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Ill.  Nov. 28 -29.

On Monday Nov. 28 Moss will appear at an informal dinner and conversation event in the Divinity School's York Room from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Registration is required by contacting On Tuesday at 11:25 a.m., Moss will preach during morning worship services at Goodson Chapel on Ezra 3:8-13 in a sermon entitled "A Blue Note Gospel." Following the service, the Office of Black Church Studies will host a brown bag lunch featuring Moss in the Alumni Memorial Commons Room.

Moss is part of a new generation of ministers committed to preaching prophetically that the message of love and justice are inseparable companions, forming the foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He has a unique gift for communicating across generations. His creative Bible-based messages have inspired young and old alike.

He is an ordained minister in the Progressive National Baptist Convention and the United Church of Christ, carrying dual standing in both denominations. He is a life member of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, board member of The Christian Century magazine, and chaplain of the Children’s Defense Fund’s Samuel DeWitt Proctor Child Advocacy Conference.
