Willie Jennings Wins Book Award

Willie Jennings, associate professor of theology and black church studies at the Divinity School, has been selected to receive an award from the American Academy of Religion (AAR) for his book, The Christian Imagination: Theology and the Origins of Race (Yale University Press, 2010).

The Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion will be awarded in the Constructive-Reflective Studies category, and will be presented during the 2011 AAR Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Cal., November 19-22, 2011.

According to the AAR, the yearly book awards honor "books of distinctive originality, intelligence, creativity and importance, books that affect decisively how religion is examined, understood, and interpreted."
