Entering Students Receive FTE Fellowships
Three students entering the M.Div. program at Duke Divinity School this fall have received fellowships from the Fund for Theological Education (FTE).
Sheldon Johnson, Shyloe O’Neal, and David Swanson have been named 2011 FTE Congregational Fellows and will each receive a $1,000 to $5,000 award from FTE, as well as matching support from their nominating congregations for tuition and living expenses.
Fellowship recipients also attended the 2011 FTE Leaders in Ministry Conference, Renewing the Church in Service to the Common Good, held June 15-19 at Dillard University in New Orleans.
FTE, a national ecumenical nonprofit dedicated to supporting future Christian leaders, awards the fellowships to foster quality leadership and diversity in pastoral ministry. The fellowships are funded by the Lilly Endowment and the Henry Luce Foundation.
A committee of educators and church leaders selected the fellows from a pool of applicants from across the U.S. and Canada. Applicants were required to have been nominated by a congregation, be preparing for congregational ministry, and have leadership gifts for pastoral ministry.
