Divinity School Baccalaureate at Duke Chapel on May 14

Students at the 2010 BaccalaureateDuke Divinity School will celebrate its 85th Baccalaureate service May 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Duke Chapel. The preacher will be Ellen Davis, Amos Ragan Kearns Distinguished Professor of Bible and Practical Theology at the school.

Davis was selected by Divinity School Dean Richard B. Hays to preach after student nominations. Her sermon, “The View from Mount Elijah,” will be based on the Old Testament lesson in I Kings 17:1-24  and the Gospel lesson in Mark 9:2-8.

This 90-minute service of worship includes the traditional ritual of hooding for degree recipients. The event is free and open to the public.

The Baccalaureate service will be webcast live on Duke's Ustream channel and also on the Duke Chapel webcast page.

Duke Divinity seniors should meet before the service in Goodson Chapel at 5:30 p.m.
