Closing Convocation and Baccalaureate Preachers Selected

Duke Divinity School Dean Richard B. Hays has selected preachers for the 2011 Closing Convocation and Baccalaureate worship services.Charles Campbell

Charles Campbell, professor of Homiletics at the Divinity School, will preach at the school's 85th Closing Convocation worship service April 20 in Goodson Chapel. Dean Hays will be the celebrant at the 11:25 a.m. Service of the Word and Table that marks the end of the academic year and honors graduating seniors.

Ellen Davis, Amos Ragan Kearns Distinguished Professor of Bible and Practical Theology, has been chosen to preach at the school’s Baccalaureate service May 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Duke Chapel.

This 90-minute Service of the Word includes the traditional ritual Ellen Davis of hooding for degree recipients. The event is free and open to the public, and will be webcast live on the Duke Chapel webcast page.

Divinity School students nominated preachers for the worship services, with Dean Hays making the final selections from their nominees.
