Students Say Farewell to Dean
Duke Divinity students will host an appreciation reception April 21 in honor of Dean L. Gregory Jones, who will step down as dean at the end of the current academic year after serving in that position since 1997.
All Divinity School students are invited to the 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. reception in the Alumni Memorial Common Room to say farewell and express appreciation for Jones’ leadership. A light lunch will be served.
Jones was named Duke University’s vice president and vice provost for global strategy and programs effective March 1 by President Richard H. Brodhead and Provost Peter Lange. Richard Hays, the George Washington Ivey Professor of New Testament at the Divinity School, will serve as dean for a two-year term while a national search is conducted for a successor.
