Stories of Hope from the Grassroots
Since its launch in 2005, the Duke Center for Reconciliation, based at the Divinity School, has identified the Great Lakes region of Eastern Africa as a key geographical area of its outreach focus.
The center gathered 45 Christian leaders in Kampala, Uganda in 2006 to learn more about their needs and to discuss ways to help promote peace, healing, and reconciliation in the region. The gathering has since become an annual event.
The most recent gathering, in Burundi in January 2009, included 100 African leaders from Christian-based institutions involved in ministries of reconciliation.
