Supporting Students at Renk through the Congregational Scholars Program
We are seeking to establish a permanent funding base for the Program, even as each teacher continues to raise funds on an ad hoc basis. Budget items that need to be covered are visa fees, airfare, immunizations, and living expenses in Sudan for the teachers, as well as textbooks, food, and transport for the students who attend each session, some of them traveling several hundred miles.
Costs for each two-week session, with a team of two teachers, are approximately $8,000-10,000.
Contributions may be sent to Ellen Davis or Jo Bailey Wells (see below); checks are to be made payable to Duke Divinity School; notation: Renk Visiting Teachers Program.
Beginning in 2007, we have established partnerships between Renk Theological College and North American congregations, to fund students at Renk Theological College. For $3,000, a congregation or individual can support one student for a full year. Contacts with students are facilitated. Please get further information on initiating a partnership from Jo Wells or Ellen Davis. Do not send these funds to Duke Divinity School; we will arrange with you to wire them directly to the College’s bank account.
