Job Summary The Stewardship and Development Associate will work with the department of Stewardship and Development to advance the department’s strategic priorities including the education, engagement, and stewardship of donors to The Riverside Church. The Associate will connect and deliver on the front line by offering warm customer service, managing and leading substantive projects and data review, creating engaging materials for distribution (online and in hardcopy), and implementing innovative events for a diverse and engaged donor base. The role will also include a robust professional development curriculum that includes development of a professional growth plan, attendance at senior staff meetings with senior leadership, regular check-ins with the Associate Minister of Stewardship and Development, participation in team strategy-setting sessions, and regularly scheduled learning lunches with staff. This opportunity can be modified in any way necessary to ensure receipt of academic credit. Job Responsibilities • Administration o Updating and maintaining donor database o Weekly processing of paper giving cards, visitor cards, and donations received by mail o Answering phones and emails • Communications o Composing content for organization-wide communications about giving and serving including flyers, blog posts, social media content, invitations, and acknowledgement letters • Events o Assisting with overall event implementation o Coordinating logistics for Riverside’s Advent Market o Coordinating logistics for quarterly Grateful Gatherings o Facilitating summer Phone-A-Thon o Facilitating congregation-wide Grateful Day of Service • Research o Providing organized summaries and images of hospitality practices in other congregations through online research o Contributing to database of foundation and government grant opportunities Experience and Education Requirements Basic requirements • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or recent graduate • Strong interest in development and social justice • Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft products • Familiarity with the use of social media for marketing purposes • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other donor databases, preferred • Familiarity with InDesign, Photoshop, or other graphic design medias, preferred Key leadership behaviors • Optimism • Demonstrated commitment to hard work and teamwork • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors • Professionalism • Innovation, creativity, and intellectual energy • Sense of responsibility for actions and accountability to agreed-upon working norms • Demonstrated belief in the power of excellent development practice to make the world stronger, better, and healthier
