The Office of Black Church Studies at Duke Divinity School will hold its worship service, lecture, book signing and a community lunch as part of the 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture Series.

The series will feature guest lecturer Dr. Gary Dorrien, Reinhold Niebuhr Professor of Social Ethics at Union Theological Seminary and Professor of Religion at Columbia University, New York, NY.  Dr. Dorrien is the author of The New Abolition: W. E. B. Du Bois and the Black Social Gospel (2015) and Breaking White Supremacy: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Black Social Gospel 1st Edition (2018).

Rev. Prince R. Rivers, Senior Pastor of Union Baptist Church, Durham, NC and Duke Divinity School Alumni will be our guest preacher.

Tuesday, April 3

Worship Service in Goodson Chapel from 11:25 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.

Community Lunch in Alumni Memorial Common Room at 12:30 p.m.

Lecture and Book signing with Dr. Gary Dorrien at 2:00 p.m.

Registration

The cost to attend the community lunch is $20 each plus tax. Advance registration is required, and space is limited.
