Duke Divinity School will hold a worship service of the word with the Rev. Cheryl Moore Adamson, D'02, preaching. She is the founding pastor of Palmetto Missionary Baptist Church in Palmetto, S.C. The church opened its doors for worship in October 2006. 

The Gospel Choir will provide music at the service.

Divinity School Closing Convocation

Duke Divinity School will hold its 88th Closing Convocation with Willie Jennings, associate professor of theology  and black church studies at the school, preaching.

Richard Hays, dean of the Divinity School and George Washington Ivey Professor of New Testament, will preside at this Service of Word and Table that marks the end of the academic year and honors graduating students.

The preacher was selected after the graduating class submitted nominations to the dean, who made the final selection.

Immediately after the service, there will be a light lunch honoring the upcoming graduates that will be open to all Divinity School students, faculty, and staff at the William Kellon Quick Entrance to the Westbrook Building.

2014 MLK Lecture Series Worship Service with Randal Jelks

The Duke Divinity School worship service will feature Randal Jelks, guest lecturer for the 2014 Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture Series on April 1-2, as the guest preacher. He is an associate professor of American Studies with a joint appointment in African and African American Studies at the University of Kansas.

The Office of Black Church Studies at the school sponsors the annual lecture series.
