Body and Prayer − A Series of Experiential Prayer Stations

Thursday, April 7, 2011 - 8:30am to Saturday, April 9, 2011 - 4:00pm
Langford 059 (Centenary)

Duke Divinity Women's Center is sponsoring the “Body and Prayer Project − A Series of Experiential Prayer Stations” using all the senses to pray. Accompanied by music and art, seven experiential prayer stations will focus on different aspects of the human body (hands, heart, breath, feet, eyes, taste, and the whole self).

Each station will be sensory, participatory, and intersect closely with Scripture. Art supplies, for example, will allow participants to use color in prayer. The self-guided stations provide written instructions. Participants may visit one or all seven stations, entering and leaving similar to an exhibit. No registration is required for this free event.

The prayer stations will be open Thursday, April 7, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Friday, April 8, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Saturday, April 9, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Professor Anathea Portier-Young and Chaplain Sally Bates will be advising. The Stewart Henry Arts Fund is funding the project.
