First- and second-year Duke Divinity School students are sponsoring a Halloween celebration for students in those classes.  There will be free dounuts,  coffee, and candy. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

The Program in Gender, Theology, and Ministry at Duke Divinity School will hold its fall potluck for faculty, staff, and students involved in or interested in the program, as well as for program alumni and supporters. Friends and family are also welcome to attend this informal gathering at the home of Professor Thea Portier-Young.

Thriving Rural Communities will hold a Rural Colloquium on "George Herbert and The Country Parson" presented by Jeremy Troxler, director of the Duke Divinity School program. Herbert, a 17th century writer and Anglican priest, wrote a reflection titled “The Country Parson” shortly before his death in which he set out “the form and character of a true pastor.” 

No registration is necessary for the free lunch, lecture, and discussion on the ways the reflection can serve as a guide for ministry in the 21st century.

“The Country Parson” offers a timeless  vision of faithful pastoral ministry within a rural community. Herbert's poetry, characterized by a deep devotion to Christ and the church, arises out of his experiences as the rector of the rural parish in England, where he was known for his faithful care for his parishioners. 

Milites Christi (Soldiers of Christ), a student group at Duke Divinity School, is sponsoring the "After the Yellow Ribbon" conference to develop tools that church, military, and academic communities can use to understand and help military service members and veterans heal the unseen wounds of war, including PTSD, prescription drug and alcohol abuse, and suicide.

Auditions will be held for this year's Broadway Revue, a fund-raiser featuring performances to Broadway tunes by Duke Divinity School students, faculty, and staff. The event features singing, dancing, and music. A sign-up sheet for a 10-minute audition slot is located next to the student lockers on the basement level of Gray Building.

The Centering Prayer Group at Duke Divinity School meets weekly on Tuesdays at the same time and location. The group is open to faculty, staff, and students for a time of prayer and contemplation.

Live at the Lampstead is a monthly brown bag lunch event showcasing live performances by Duke Divinity School students, faculty, and staff. The performances include vocal and instrumental pieces, original poetry and short story readings, dance, comedy, paintings, and skits.

This month's performance will feature Keri LeBrant, Adam Darragh, Broadway Revue, and "Axe of the Apostles."

Duke Chapel Pathways is sponsoring Theological Schools Day at the Bryan Student Center for students interesting in learning more about theological schools. A seminary alumni panel discussion with students and admissions representatives will be held in the Upper Level, Meeting Room A from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Twenty-two theological school representatives will be in Schafer Mall, Upper Level of Bryan Center from 1 to 4 p.m.
