Divinity School Student Lounge New Furniture Celebration & Blessing

New Students 2013

The new entering class of 242 students comes from 25 U.S. states and 8 countries.

This week Duke Divinity School welcomed an entering class of 242 new students, up from 223 new students in 2012. Students are from 25 states and the United Kingdom, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, Ireland, and Germany.

The M.Div. degree program grew from 134 new students in 2012 to 152 new students this year. The two doctoral programs at Duke Divinity School—the D.Min. and the Th.D.—also saw an increase in new students for 2013.

Watch Opening Convocation Video

The Divinity School held its 87th Opening Convocation Service on Aug. 27 in Duke Chapel with Dean Richard Hays preaching.

Video of the 87th Opening Convocation is now available for viewing. The Aug. 27 service at Duke Chapel was the first worship service of the academic year for students, faculty, and staff.

Dean Richard B. Hays preached at the convocation service, which began with an academic procession of the faculty and selected senior administrative staff. The service also included a blessing of new faculty and staff, and a welcoming to the entering class of students.
