'Ministry Bloopers' Event

The Methodist House of Studies at Duke Divinity School will sponsor "Ministry Bloopers," an event with the Rev. Nick Jeffries from Camp and Retreat Ministries of the North Carolina UMC, the Rev. Ed Priestaf, and McKennon Shea, director of admissions at the school. There also will be a special appearance by AXE of the Apostles, the school's improvisational comedy troupe.

A taco bar with gluten free and vegetarian options will be available for $3 each.

Small groups have become a vital part of growing, learning, and living together in community. The lecture will discuss the importance of small groups in Wesleyan theology and how to implement that in a community or parish.

Gray Southern from Apex Family of Faith Communities talking about creating a culture of stewardship rooted in spiritual formation and how the church is called to cultivate that gift like all others; and Sara Bayles, a middler M.Div. student, speaking on involving chiclren and youth in stewardship.

The Student Life and Ministrial Formation offices at Duke Divinity School will host a workshop for students on "Developing a Small Group Culture" as part of the "Thursday Mentoring for Ministry" series. The Methodist House of Studies is coordinating the workshop on learning how to help churches transition from a "Sunday School" model of Christian formation to one centered around participation in small group communities.
