Summer Course of Study Closing Convocation with Mickey Efird Preaching

James "Mickey" Efird, professor emeritus of Biblical Interpretation at Duke Divinity School, will preach at the Closing Convocation of the 2012 Summer Course of Study.

Nathan E. Kirkpatrick, managing director at Leadership Education, will be the celebrant at the Service of the Word and Table that marks the end of the summer course held at the Divinity School on July 1-26.  Students completing their fifth year or advanced studies will receive recognition at the service.
 
A reception for all students and families will be held at the Refectory Cafe at the school immediately after the service.

WNCC Clergy Retreat

The Western North Carolina Conference (WNCC) Clergy Retreat is an opportunity for clergy  in the conference to gather and share in communion with one another. The 2012 event, "Soul Quest: Key Questions of the Spiritual Life," will be led by Roger Owens, co-pastor of Duke Memorial United Methodist Church in Durham, N.C.

The Duke Clergy Health Initiative staff will host a study break prior to the afternoon session for Spirited Life participants attending the Course of Study being held at Duke Divinity School on July 1-26.

Light refreshments and goodie bags will be available.

United Methodist Full Connection Seminar

Duke Divinity School will sponsor the United Methodist Full Connection Seminar, a theological workshop designed to help United Methodists participating in the ordination process prepare for their board interviews and written examinations.

The seminar features a series of 10 lectures by distinguished Divinity School faculty and also practitioners that address the traditional Disciplinary questions for ordination.

Starting in 2012, these lectures will be made available in advance, creating more time for participants to discuss, worship together, meet with annual conference officials, and share thoughts and perceptions about the ordination process.
