Hispanic House of Studies Open House

The Hispanic House of Studies at Duke Divinity School will host an open house in its office. The house's staff will be available to provide information about what the work of the house and how students can become involved with the Hispanic/Latino programs.
Refreshments will be served. Registration is not required.

“Responses of Reconciliation: Moving from Xenophobia to Philoxenia Within the Church” Workshop

The Thriving Rural Communities Initiative, the Hispanic House of Studies, and Student Action With Farmworkers will sponsor a practical workshop, “Responses of Reconciliation: Moving from Xenophobia to Philoxenia Within the Church,” designed to help rural church leaders respond faithfully to prejudiced attitudes in the church towards immigrant communities.

Participants will reflect upon ministry case studies drawn from real-life experience and will talk together about specific Christian responses that invite others to move from a mindset of resentment to the ministry of reconciliation.

Anyone is welcome to participate, and no registration is necessary. A free lunch will be available for first 50 participants.

Students interested in learning about Hispanic theological perspectives are invited to apply for the Hispanic Summer Program June 16-29, 2012.

Duke Divinity School is one of 40 sponsoring institutions for the ecumenical program, which allows each student to choose one course out of eight three-credit graduate-level courses available.
