Class at Christian Community Development Association national conference explored models of pilgrimages.

A trio of Duke Divinity staff co-taught a class on the practice of pilgrimage at the 25th Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) conference Sept. 11-14 in New Orleans, La.

Every year CCDA draws diverse clergy, ministry leaders, and students from across the U.S. for several days of intense reflection, learning, and growing together in classes exploring reconciliation and community development.

The Student Life and Ministrial Formation offices at Duke Divinity School will host a workshop for students on ministering in a cross-cultural context as part of the "Thursday Mentoring for Ministry" series.

The Hispanic House of Studies at Duke Divinity School will hold an information session about the Caminantes Program, a group that meets weekly for spiritual formation from a Latino perspective, and the Manos Unidas student group, which focuses on ministry, fellowship and service with Hispano/Latino communities. Ismael Ruiz-Millán, director of the Hispanic House of Studies, will facilitate the session.

 No registration is necessary. Lunch will be provided.

Bilingual Service of Word and Table led by "Caminates" of Hispanic House of Studies

Duke Divinity School will offer a bilingual worship service led by the "Caminates" program of the Hispanic House of Studies. Ismael Ruiz-Millan, director of the Hispanic House, will preach, and the Praise Team will sing. 

Students serving international field education placements during summer 2013 will be commissioned at this public worship service.

The "Caminates" (Walkers) group meets every week for spiritual formation from a Hispanic Methodist perspective.

The worship service is titled "Aposento Alto" (The Upper Room).

Titled "Aposento Alto" (The Upper Room), the event is open to the Divinity School and Duke University communities.
