Duke University Chapel will hold several community Christmas Eve celebrations throughout the day. The services are: a Children's Service, 2 p.m.;  a Service of Carols and Holy Communion, 4 p.m.; a Christmas Eve Catholic Mass, 5 p.m.; a Christmas Eve Worship Service, 6 p.m.; and a Service of Carols and Holy Communion, 11 p.m.

The chapel is closed Christmas Day.

Duke Chapel Christmas Open House

Duke Chapel will hold its annual Christmas Open House featuring the chapel in candlelight and holiday music on all three chapel organs and the carillon. There also will be free Christmas cookies and hot cider.

In addition, the Independent Animal Rescue will be on the side lawn of the chapel from noon to 1 p.m. with dogs available for adoption.

Duke Chorale Christmas Concert

The Duke Chorale will hold its annual Christmas concert beginning at 7 p.m., with seasonal music on the carillon and for organ beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This concert features seasonal selections by the Duke Chorale as well as traditional carols for the audience to sing along with, stories, and special treats for children.

The chorale is directed by Rodney Wynkoop, professor of the practice of music and director of university choral music and chapel music at Duke University, where he conducts the Duke Chorale and Chapel Choir.

Duke Employee Holiday Concert with the Duke Medicine Chorus

Duke University and Duke University Health System will hold a free Employee Holiday Concert with the Duke Medicine Chorus in Duke Chapel for staff and faculty. The event, sponsored by Duke Human Resources, will include dessert after the concert.
