"The Idols of Chaldea: Daniel in Deutero-Isaiah's Babylon" with Old Testament Faculty Candidate Jennifer Barbour
Duke Divinity School will hold a public lecture, "The Idols of Chaldea: Daniel in Deutero-Isaiah's Babylon" with Old Testament faculty candidate Jennifer Barbour, assistant professor of religion at Amherst College.
The lecture will trace the work of the collector who framed the Aramaic tales of Daniel within a narrative setting offered by the book of Isaiah, and will ask how the monotheism of the later book re-interprets the classic idol-polemic of its closest scriptural source.
