firstname.lastname@example.org or (919) 660-3539
Thomas Sayre, an artist who was commissioned to create a chancel cross for Goodson Chapel at Duke Divinity School, will present an informal lecture on its design and fabrication. The 600-pound, 8-foot high by 5-foot wide, earth-cast cross was dedicated in November 2011.
Sayre, a founding partner of Clearscapes design firm in Raleigh, N.C., will show slides documenting the casting and installation of the piece in 2011. He also will answer questions about the intersection of art and theology at the public talk, sponsored by the Office of the Chaplain and the New Creation Arts Group.
Locally Sayre collaborated on the design for the Shimmer Wall at the new Raleigh Convention Center. His other designs include the World Wall at Marbles Kids Museum and several outdoor sculptures at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh.
