Saturday, September 15, 2012 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
0016 Westbrook, Duke Divinity School or (919) 660-3598

The Duke Divinity School Women's Center and the Duke School of Nursing will sponsor a workshop, "Strong Women/Strategic Performance." It will be led by Nancy Houfek, head of voice and speech at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University.

The workshop will encourage female faculty, staff and students at the Divinity School and the Nursing School to cultivate and use their professional voice including using body language effectively in professional settings, negotiating, and consensus building.

There will be two, three-hour sessions. The first one from 9 a.m. to noon will be for faculty and staff; the second one from 1-4 p.m. will be for students. Each session has space for 30 participants.

The workshop will include role-plays of participants’ personal experiences with negotiations and meetings. Coaching and replay of scenarios will also create a highly interactive, personal and powerful learning of the wide range of tactics available for success.

This workshop will be an opportunity for women of the Divinity School to continue to explore what it means to have a strong voice in Christian ministry, whether through the church or the academy.

Pre-register by Sept. 5 and indicate affiliation with either the Divinity School or the Nursing School.
