Sacred Worth at Duke Divinity School will hold a discussion on "The N.C. Marriage Amendment and the Church" about the proposed amendment to the North Carolina constitution prohibiting legal recognition within the state of same-sex partnerships. The discussion will address the impact the amendment's passage in the May 8 election would have in the lives of many people in the community.
Speakers will include Duke Divinity School Professor Willie Jennings, who will offer his theological insights; local pastor and Duke alumna Carla Gregg, who will speak to the pastoral issues involved in the amendment; and prison chaplain Sarah Jobe, who will offer her insights on the wide range of people affected by the amendment, in particular victims of domestic violence.
There also will be free pizza from Enzo's Pizza Co. for the first 40 attendees.
