Women's Week: Monday Potluck Supper and Screening of "Miss Representation"
606 N. Gregson St., Durham, NC
As part of Women's Week, the Duke Divinity School Women's Center will host a potluck dinner and screening of the 2011 documentary Miss Representation.
The film explores and challenges how the mainstream media offers limited portrayals of women and girls by sending the message that a woman's power lies in her youth, beauty, and sexuality. Such portrayals make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself, according to the film.
This event is open to the Divinity School community. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish to share during the casual fellowship and discussion. Directions are available in the Women's Center.
