Duke Divinity School will sponsor a reception honoring Bishop Kenneth L. Carder for contributions to the school and mark his June 30, 2011 retirement as the Ruth W. and A. Morris Williams, Jr. Professor of the Practice of Christian Ministry.

The reception will immediately follow a public interview of Carder conducted by Divinity School Dean Richard B. Hays, George Washington Ivey Professor of New Testament, on “The State of the Church.” The interview will be from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on the same date in 0016 Westbrook.

Carder will continue his work at the Divinity School by serving as the new bishop in residence and as a mentor to students in the newly developed Doctor of Ministry degree program, as well as teaching individual courses periodically.
